2018 Echo Dot Review

Amazon's 3rd Gen Echo Dot is now bigger and louder thanks to a new speaker. It also has 4 microphones instead of 7 now but that hasn't affected its listening capabilities in my experience. Compared to the Google Home Mini the new Dot is a much better competitor.

Amazon's 3rd Gen Echo Dot is now bigger and louder thanks to a new speaker. It also has 4 microphones instead of 7 now but that hasn't affected its listening capabilities in my experience. Compared to the Google Home Mini the new Dot is a much better competitor. It's not as loud as the GH Mini but it does have more bass, which makes a big difference. Another new feature is that you can now pair two new dots together for real stereo sound. Overall, I'm thrilled about the much needed upgrades and happy that it's still only $49.
